Grant from the Club des Mécènes
10,000 grant from Club des Mécènes du Patrimoine en Bretagne to Mr. Briand for the restoration of a half-timbered barn in Melesse (Ille-et-Vilaine).
This agricultural estate comprises two distinct parts: one dating back to the 14th century, and a second dating back to 1692. The building, built in bauge, features a timber-framed façade and gable top. Experts from the Brittany Region’s inventory visited this property during the writing of the book, to be published in 2019, entitled: Architecture en pan de bois dans le pays Rennais.
The work carried out on the building consisted in restoring the timber-framed structure and the timber infill. This major project was supported by the “TIEZ BREIZH” association.
Since its creation, the Club des Mécènes du Patrimoine has already supported a dozen heritage preservation projects in Brittany, including the restoration of the 1930s lounge-bed car in Guiscriff. And the Gloriette du Lac Tranquille in Combourg, built in the 19th century.
