ARTISTIC COLLABORATIONS – PLOM
The Plom letterbox is a work that plays with balance.
Studio Briand & Berthereau collaborated with metalworker Crézé to create and design Plom.
Made from 5 MM aluminum sheet, the Plom letterbox was a design challenge for Crézé. The compass and rod that make up Plom’s opening process is a precision mechanism. The column supporting the box was grooved before being bent into a dodecagon to make the angles sharp. This three-part faceted column stands on an axis like a “Kokei” performance.
The kiln-painted finish highlights the play of light on the faces of the volumes. With its intriguing off-axis silhouette, Plom plays on both architectural and design codes.
